“My name is Aboubacar Hamada, and I am 10 years old. I am in the first grade here in Tillabéri and I come from a very poor family. My father has three wives and 10 children. On my mother’s side, I am the first child. In addition to poverty, with all the war problems that Tillabéri faces because of terrorists, life is very hard. Often, my mother did not have enough to prepare food for us, and we were forced to beg for crumbs to put in our stomachs.
But our lives changed since the day the WAYYO NGO center opened in Tillabéri. One day, my friends told me to follow them to a place where food was being distributed. When I arrived there, I thought it was a party. It was incredible, with endless food everywhere. That day, I filled my stomach as much as possible. I was really happy that day. The next day, I took my two little brothers, one who is 4 years old and the other 9 years old. Since that day, we have been going there every day. Additionally, I really enjoy the teachings we receive here; I find them very uplifting.
In conclusion, I want to tell the WAYYO NGO today that you are our hope for a wonderful life. However, the only problem is that we cannot take this food home, as it pains me to eat well knowing that my mother is at home with an empty stomach. One day, I waited until the end, collected the leftovers from the plates, put them in a bag, and brought them to her. She was very happy. My wish is that one day we can take this food home for our mothers too.
I don’t know the people who send us this food, but I really want to thank them. I learned that this is a project called WAYYO NGO. I pray that the Almighty blesses them. I encourage them to continue this kind of action because there are many children in need here.”
